WEEK 17 : Wrapping It Up

Over the semester we learned so much about social media and I really got to see another side to it that I had never really been involved with. I have always used social media as a way to connect purely with friends and family and stay up to date with what is happening in everyone's lives. It was really eye-opening for me to see the business side of social media and what a huge advantage it can be to any business.

My viewpoint on social media has definitely changed. I am currently going to school to earn a degree in marketing. I have always thought of myself as outgoing and have worked sales jobs in the past that really showcased my best qualities. I feel that my major really combines my strong points and I will eventually land in a career that I will love. That being said it was awesome to really get to see the social media marketing world.

Social media marketing is such a huge part of today's society, the online world is really taking over and everyone is jumping on board. My viewpoint has changed in some ways because although I have been aware of the influence and power of social media holds I did not know how to personally take advantage of it. I think that anyone can use social media as a tool to grow their business.

I am walking away from this class with a much deeper understanding of how to take full advantage of the online marketing world. There really are so many tools that can be implemented into any sort of business. I was completely unaware of the huge variety of tools available. It really doesn't matter what business you are in there is absolutely something online that will benefit you. It could be anything from a mailing service like MailChimp, facebook, twitter, google analytics and so much more.

At the moment I don't have a real business that I am trying to grow but down the line, once I have earned my degree I know there are so many things I am looking forward to using. One of the biggest thing that I think can be helpful on any of these platforms is definitely the analytics. If you have the opportunity to get an inside look at your audience and interactions you can definitely change the content you are producing to help increase traffic and help your business flourish.

I am super grateful for this experience and all of the things that I learned over the semester. I am looking forward to using all of these skills to help further my career in the future!
Thank you for a great semester.

  1. That's really cool that you are going into marketing. I think really understanding social media is vital for that now. You are right that the analytics will be a very powerful tool for adjusting content and getting to know what the audience really wants.

Week 16

I found that twitter really surprised me with all of the options it offered for marketing and ads and I was also shocked at the prices being so high.  Overall I find that Instagram offers really reasonable advertisement options and a ton of insights. I will definitely implement all of the skills and strategies that we learned about this semester into my marketing strategies for future business endeavors. I think that what platform works best for you really depends on what you're looking for and who your audience is.  It seems to me that the more time a business puts into their marketing efforts and social media the more results they will receive. If you are are not putting any effort into your social media then you won't have the same results as someone who is dedicated to reaching a bigger audience.  Daily goals would be to make sure I am active in at least some way once a day. This could be through following other accounts, liking similar business', responding

WEEK TWO

In my opinion, Instagram seems to be the most geared towards personal use. Most social media platforms started as a way to keep in contact with friends and family but quickly evolved into a way to promote products and new businesses. One of the most groundbreaking social media sites is Facebook. I think that as social media has grown into a business platform that Facebook has stayed current and made their site something that would be great for not just socializing but promoting your company and connecting with interested customers.  One social media platform that is not geared towards business, in my opinion, is Twitter. Twitter seems to be one of the only sites that has not become a major business platform. Instagram seems to work great for both personal and business-related uses. "Influencers" can promote products for companies and make lots of money based off of the number of followers they have. It is not uncommon to see Instagrams with 200k+ followers posting ads and
